Maskmaking for Modern
and Traditional Theatre
Below is a selection of work relevant to the Developing Your Creative Practice application “MASKMAKING FOR MODERN AND TRADITIONAL THEATRE”.
A leather Commedia dell’Arte mask (July 2023) - This is the mask that I made as part of the mask-making course at the Sartori museum in Italy in 2023. Since then I have continued exploring and developing my own approach to theatrical mask-making, and have been commissioned to supply masks and performance training.
A set of five Commedia dell’Arte masks (November 2024) - Produced for use in training actors, these five leather masks represent the conclusion of a foundation level of development.

Masks in use - A workshop which I ran on the 1st of December 2024 in Norwich with Emballage Ensemble on their New Encounters programme.

Masks cast in resin - Neutral Masks and Commedia half-masks.
Some of the masks modelled - leather, resin and papier mache.
Le Croisement (2023) - My final piece from my study at Ecole Jacques Lecoq 2021-2023, devised as an ensemble under my direction. This piece used masks as a rehearsal tool, which lead to a highly energetic physical performance style.
